It All Starts With Self Care/www.justtessa.com

5 Tips For Self Care.

Self Care has both mental and physical components. It can be any activity that you do deliberately in order to take care of yourself. Good Self care is important in order to live a healthy “self loving” life.

It has come to my attention lately that my friends and family think that I might be having a mental breakdown to some description. I know that I am nearly 40 (little excited about that one) and that my life came to a fork in the road and instead of taking the road  I would usually travel, I decided to make it my own way and on my own terms.

Yes it is a little scary and yes looking from the outside, it is text book midlife crisis. But in my defence I don’t believe that I am. My decision was not taken lightly and my choices were not made over night.  I am a strong advocate for mental health and I myself use professional’s to help me. I am looking after myself and I am practising self care

(ok I am trying too)

Self Care is self initiated……

2.   Sleep

Sleep is good!  Ensure that you have quality Sleep at night to recovery the body and the mind. Creating a sleep routine is helpful. Going to bed at the same time each night and waking up at the same time every morning. This helps with relaxing the body to fall asleep and to feel motivated in the morning to move again.

3.   Maintaining Friendships

Socialising and exercising with friends is not only therapeutic, they are your base of support and you know that they will be there if you ever need them.

4.   Eat Nutritious Foods

Having healthy Eating habits is a form of Self Care. Your body is a machine and it runs on fuel. If you feed it crap it will run like crap. If you fuel it with nutritious foods it will run smoothly. It is pretty simple really. No hard equations, just looking after yourself.
