Eat Packaged Free for a Whole Day.
So at the start of this week I decided to have a Packaged Free Food Day. I dedicated Monday, the whole day to challenge myself a little and not eat anything out of a pack. To eat as many fresh fruits and veggies as I needed.
I did not do this for any specific reason other than my digestive system needed a hit of fruit and vegetables. As you all know I eat relatively healthy most of the time, but sometimes (when my life is hectic and I spend more time out of my house then in it) I do look for some quick and easy snacks. I use protein bars and protein shakes occasionally when I run out of time to make and prepare all our meals and snacks. And because I have been crazy busy with work and with other shit going on in my life, I have been sneaking chocolates and not just by the piece. (may have eaten half a block the other day… whoops) So my digestive system required some tender love and care, hence the decision to eat super super clean for a day.
I was able to do it quite easy. Bananas, apples and eggs (omelettes) , salad and carrot and cucumber sticks …. you get the picture.
Eating super clean for just one day was all I needed to get me back on track with my healthy eating habits. I think I just needed to kick my own ass a little bit. Get my head into gear and remind myself to get organised and prepared again. We all have moments where we fall off track with meal prep and menu planning. But I believe the trick to quicker recovery is to not make yourself feel bad about it, instead challenge your mind with a day of package free eating. You will feel better for it and this will set you up for a better week of eating.
In all honesty, in just makes you think about the food you are putting into your mouth. It makes you realise what unconscious habits you do in relation to eating and foods when you are in a rush, emotional and or don’t put in the time to plan your meals.
